This beautiful Barn Owl was part of the bird show at Alice Springs Desert Park.  I wanted to paint it and so painted an impression of it with lots of texture and very harmonious colours.  The Barn Owls are moderately common but generally hard to see as they are mosthy active at night.  Their heart-shaped face is unique to these types of owls.  They ave exceptional hearing and the slightest sound waves are channelled towards their ears allowing them to pinpoint prey even in complete darkness.  It would be lovely to bring this lovely owl inside your home.
