These beautiful little birds flit about my garden in New Zealand.  They are very inquisitive and are found mostly in the forest which borders my property.  I have portrayed this male sitting on the lichen-covered roots of a beech tree in the forest.  The painting has a soft background with a very textured and colourful base under the little bird.  It would be a lovely reminder of the very cute little native birds of New Zealand.
